The Fragility of Life

Another day, another tragic incident, claiming the lives of countless innocent. With the dire turn of events, sadly, the news dailies, now-a-days have  become a harbinger of negativity, setting the sorrowful tone for the day, and adding distaste to the mornings, no matter how delectable.

The recent Jabalpur’s cruise tragedy, capsizing the cheer and enthrall of tourists in a matter of minutes, and drastically shortening their lives, paints a grim picture of the most formidable forces of nature. The helpless super mother, embracing her son in arms, managing to stay afloat, must have tried every resort to save her son, but alas…the monster of water, must have overpowered all her efforts, and forced her to witness the most harrowing and unwanted moment of motherhood.

Several reports of fire accidents from the past week, only from the national capital, pose the bleak picture of an almost invisible line between life and death. Tens of people and more, breathing calm in their homes, how often, especially in the summer days, unaware of the imminent fiery disaster, get charred to death in the inferno caused by a short circuit or an AC blast. Gasping for breath and bearing unimaginable burns, how these people must have been forced to unbearable suffocation, eventually to give up in excruciating pain, under the fury of destiny’s most monstrous face, breaks even the strongest of hearts out there.

Fatal road crashes, mostly untimed and unreasonable, have claimed more lives than any other forms of accident. Pilgrims returning from sacred shrines; delightful faces enroute a relative's wedding or a family gathering; or a young group of friends/colleagues heading towards their favorite tourist destination, in a jiffy of a second, how easily get picked by the Lord of Death, in the most haunting manner.

A criminal-minded burglar barges into a bungalow in an upbeat society, robs the place before cold bloodedly murdering the elderly couple; a disgruntled househelp from the past, makes his way into a locked villa, sexually assaults a young, talented girl from a well-to-do family, before strangling her to death, shattering their million-dollar dreams in a single blow. Unfortunately, such frightening stories of heinous crimes, wherein the harmonious lives of people get ravaged by someone's sickness and sheer brutality, make headlines these days perhaps more often than ever.

My heart goes out to all these victims of nature's, fate's, and human's abnormal furies, and equally to their acquaintances left behind. May all those who were made by the worldly forces to untimely move to the parallel world find solace in there, and may their kin get the power to bear the insurmountable loss.

What is life, and how long is it, who knows? We don't, and no one does, even an iota of that! Only thing we know, rather should know, is that, it's fragile, and ruthless, and how!
