July 20 mass student protest and march to the Parliament, though severely suppressed by the ruthlessness of the police and Rapid Action forces, exposed a brewing discontent against the debilitating educational structure in the country.
Cracking down on the youth brigade, peacefully protesting against the flawed education system, is a shame and a black mark on the democratic fabric of the country, and how! Disturbing visuals making rounds all over social media have sent ripples across the borders, and have invited ire from people far and wide, irrespective of their political inclination or ideologies.
Such a pity that hardly any mainstream television media is showing, or will ever show the brutality of the state against the innocent democratic dividend of the country, that politicians, every now and then, bet on, in their broken, hyperbolic speeches. These media houses, having already lost all their credibility and interrogative sheen, hardly ask valid questions, rather, pass their prejudiced & fabricated judgments, mostly against anyone pointing a finger over the ruling dispensation, in the hope of appeasing their puppeteers.
But one needs to ask, is it only the inhumane police personnel to blame, who unleashed lathi terror by misusing institutional immunity? Obviously not! Equal blame, and much more goes to the authorities on whose orders they act, many a time, against their will. Neither every policeman/woman out there was evil, nor every protestor was innocent in intentions/actions; but at least those who are clearly captured in cameras, beating the hell out of faultless, educated students must be brought to justice.
To all those young girls and boys, who marched for kms against the vagaries of Delhi weather, took bruises & injuries on their bodies, and contributed their sweat, time, and efforts in reforming the educational landscape in the country, India, take a bow!
Let us all hope for the police to be empathetic; media, impartial; education system, reimagined; politicians, accountable; and youth, chalant, for India to really achieve its immense potential and give wings to the aspirations of 1.5 bn.
Unless the public representatives are held accountable for the mess they have made out of our educational systems, the brewing discontent of the masses will only grow, with more exploited citizens raising their voices and marching against the whims & fancies of the government.
This entire CJP and the July 20 protest chapter must serve as a clarion call for the elected architects, behaving like despots with insurmountable powers, or else all their lavish ambitions with compromised foundations will come to ruins in no time.
