A SMALL MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE TO THE REAL HEROES: REPUBLIC DAY 2019

It was a cold sunny morning. As the entire nation was cherishing the patriotic vibes of the biggest national festival of India – ‘THE REPUBLIC DAY’. Everyone out there, from the smallest school, going children to the aged persons were ushering in happiness and were having a little fire in heart for the sake of the welfare of our nation. It was the 70th Republic day since 26th January 1950. On the same day in 1950, India’s constitution came into effect. I too had a fire and zeal in my heart for the occasion and as a result of it I woke up early in the morning. I went off on a morning walk and did some exercise, as it is the perfect way to make a big day more big and energetic. On my way back home, I saw so many school kids getting ready for their Schools. There was a different kind of happiness and excitement on their faces this morning as compared to regular days. Many of the NCC cadets, Scout, and Guides, Policemen in their best uniforms were going to the parade ground for the parade and cultural function. They were preparing for the same day for a long time and here it was - ‘The R day’.

I get back home, took some breakfast, and turned on the TV for the much-awaited Republic Day Parade, live from New Delhi. I have been watching the Republic day parade since my early childhood with the same zeal, pride, and a strong feeling of amazement. I always liked it the way several troops and battalions from the Indian army, navy, and air force perform the parade. I was always so much attracted by looking at all those soldiers and military men marching there in their exceptionally phenomenal uniforms. The synchronization they have in between them is so perfect that it seems like they aren’t humans but specially built machines. The march past is followed by the various bands of armed forces, which play various tunes and sounds so soulful and energetic that it acts as a perfect therapy for our ears. There are various other attractions in the republic day parade that are just phenomenal and give us all an unforgettable mesmerizing experience.

As the national flag flies high in the sky and everyone present there (involving the president, the prime minister, the vice president, the army, navy and air force chief, all the cabinet ministers, and every single cadet and the army man) salutes the Tricolour with all vigor and a feeling of great proud really give Goosebumps to anyone who feels this breath-taking moment. The Tricolour standing tall and confident not only seems beyond beautiful but also give every one of us a strong spark in our heart, to do something even at the smallest level for the sake of our nation, our society, and most importantly for the real heroes who have sacrificed their lives and their today for our safe and better tomorrow.

A soldier is no less than an alive God. What he does for the sake of all of us, for our nation is really ineffable. It is a soldier – who is fighting with the deadly terrorists, spending nights in the harshest weathers, giving up on all of his family, eating the food which we can’t even imagine and last but not the least, living the toughest life which none of us could ever think about, without asking for anything in return. It is a soldier, who is ready to die anytime, just for protecting the nation and give up on all his future plans, family, friends, and most importantly the precious life which no one gets so easily. They are the soldiers who are spending their nights in the deserted jungles, on the mountains, in heavy rains even knowing the fact, that they could be martyred anytime, they could be blown away in a blast, they could get their bodies teared up by the enemy’s bullet in a glimpse.

So, why does a soldier face all this when he could just rest in his home, enjoy life with his children and family, live a safe life with no life-threatening situations, and much more. If he is getting selected in the army as a soldier that means he is capable of doing almost anything. He could have spent a luxurious life filled with all care, love, and bliss. He could have spent a happy life with no risks. He could have afforded a good night's sleep on comfy beds rather than sleepless nights in the worst conditions. He could have spent amazing vacations filled with much joy and leisure with his friends and family rather than getting severely injured in deadly attacks every now and then.

Then, why do they prefer opting for this risky and unwanted by everyone kind of career?
It is because of the love they have in their hearts for their motherland and for the martyrs. It is because of the care they have in their hearts for every single individual in the country. It is because of the lesson of humanity their parents have taught them. It is because of the bravery they have and ultimately it is because of the top priority they have given to their nation and allowing no one else to come in between.

They have been fighting for years in extreme conditions, putting their lives in danger. Isn’t it our responsibility to at least support them even to the finest level? Isn’t it our responsibility to at least understand the sacrifices they made for us? Isn’t it our responsibility to thank them for everything they have done for us and will keep on doing forever and ever just for the sake of our happy future? Isn’t it our responsibility to do at least a small percent for the help to their families in every possible way to what they are doing for ours? Isn’t it our responsibility to give them the respect they actually deserve?
