The AI Boom: a Blessing or a Threat to Human Thinking?

Artificial Intelligence, in a mere three year period, unlike any other technological advancements in the past, has altered the economic and global dynamics to an unprecedented scale. China's recently launched Kimi and Claude’s Mythos have been so technologically miraculous that they have shaken up the governments, intelligence agencies, and central banks all over the world. As on date, well over hundred Large Language Models have taken the world by a storm, with majority of them having their bases in the US, China, and Europe; further strengthening the superiority and hegemony of the developed world (plus China) over the emerging.

From content creation, to coding; automation, to production & design; accounting, to research & analysis; and marketing, to counseling & diagnosis, the novel technology, incepted on a wider scale in late 2022 with the ChatGPT, has left remarkable imprints in almost every field, and how!

The mind boggling developments in the tech have today achieved miraculous highs, creating a complete rejig in the job market, and opening up of a huge pool of specialised white-collar job opportunities.

With the help of the right AI-tool as per the use case, doing a herculean task today is hardly a matter of a few minutes and can be done at ease by a single individual, that otherwise would have taken hours/days/weeks and several people/entire agencies. It is further adding volumes to the R&D capabilities, efficiency and overall profits for several organisations.

But unfortunately, this tremendous potential is also leading to high attrition levels across job markets, especially at the beginner and mid senior level positions. As per the reports by global consultancies & research firms, thousands of jobs have already been lost, and several more are there in the offing.

To further spoil the game, the tech advancement has come with a huge cost, a cost so high that the humans are selling all their hard-earned intelligence to fund its exorbitant prices. Ultimately making the current generation, especially the gen-Z and gen-alpha dumber in terms of limiting the use of their brains.

And the worst part, professionals, including ace writers, top-notch designers, experienced strategists, erudite researchers, and pro coders, many of them are compromising and cutting corners on their own abilities to making AI do their jobs; unaware, or aware yet careless of the harms that AI is inflicting on their most treasured, intangible asset, i.e., their years of experience in the field!

With every new breathtaking update in the field, human intervention is becoming more and more crucial. Parents, organisations, and leaders out there need to instill true values in their kids & teams, making them use the technology in a judicious manner without sacrificing on their invaluable expertise.

Indeed, in 2026, completely eliminating the use of AI won't let anyone climb up the ladder of success in their professional trajectories. The solution lies in maintaining the right balance, between human thinking and the machine, with the former superseding the latter by a considerable margin.
