Hello dear friends.
Hope you all are doing absolutely fine.
Let me tell you all, a real incident of two of my closest friends 'Puneet and Jay'. This story would surely help you make a better stand between 'Money and Happiness'.
There was a seminar going on in the Birla auditorium. The auditorium was packed with many corporate giants and million-dollar start-up founders. The speaker asked a simple question. What would you choose among “Happiness or Money”? He further clarified the question ‘What is more important- money or happiness’? I have been asked this question hundreds of times and l always answered it exactly revert to what most of the people say. I know it isn’t a simple question with a simple option of choosing one amongst two.
As expected, most of the people said, it is money and their assets by which they can lead a lavish lifestyle. Two of my friends were also there. One was Puneet, who always choose either of them accordingly to the situation. While Jay, another good friend of mine always chooses happiness among the two. As I have told you earlier, this is not a simple question of choosing one option. This question has always been the most difficult question of all time, even more, difficult than a question from rocket science. Now, what’s there in this question which makes it the most difficult is the dependence of person to person to which the question is asked. If the same question will be asked to a billionaire. Obviously, he would choose happiness among the two. Because he has already so much money, that he doesn’t have any more space left to store it securely. And conversely, if the same question will be asked to a poor person who is not having much money and is living a life so miserable that no one would ever want. By sure, the person would choose money for him. Ultimately for a poor person, what is happiness? It is nothing but money. If a poor man would get enough money, he would be able to fulfill all his and his family’s wishes which were never going to be fulfilled. And ultimately, this would be eternal happiness for him.
Now let me tell you what answers Puneet and Jay gave when asked the same question by the speaker. Puneet is a multi-millionaire who is the founder of a million-dollar start-up and currently lives in Bangalore. He is having high-end cars with him and is leading a lavish lifestyle. When asked upon, Puneet simply said that out of the happiness and money he would choose both. No one had expected this kind of answer from a multi-millionaire. Upon asked by the speaker to elaborate, Puneet gave a simple answer – when I am with my family, my mom-dad, spouse, and children. Happiness is more important to me. I want to see them happy. I want to spend time with them. I want to understand their feelings and make them do the same for mine. But when I am in my office, dealing with my clients, or if I am buying or selling shares in my company. I would definitely choose money instead. In short, to choose between money and happiness totally depends upon the circumstances. Everyone was amazed by the answer but didn’t understand it properly even though.
Now the speaker asked the same question to Jay. Jay, who was working in an MNC at the post of a legal analyst. He was leading a good middle-class lifestyle though. He was having his own flat, own car, and was enjoying his life to the fullest. But deep inside he knows, that he wasn’t happy with his life. He was moving in the wrong direction for a long time. Jay was always looking for happiness and was continuously going down in his professional life. And as pretended, Jay chose Happiness among the both. He said I would prefer to be happy rather than to work day and night for money. He said I would prefer to travel in a Maruti than a BMW. While on a vacation, I would prefer to stay in a 3-star hotel than a 5 or 7 star. I just want happiness and nothing else. No one was totally satisfied with his answer, neither me nor the speaker and nor anyone else present in the auditorium. As the crowd settled down, I just asked a simple question Jay – what’s wrong with crying in a BMW rather than a Maruti? If your life is already screwed, you are getting sorrow from almost everywhere, then why not rest and make a further strategy or plan in an air-conditioned suite of a 5-star hotel rather than somewhere else? If you are losing up your clients and your company’s shares are continuously falling, then why not take a good recreational nap to cope up with the stress, in the business class with comfy seats and much more comfortable than the economy class?
For all those who always prefer happiness over money, I would like to ask all the above questions to you also. As I have told earlier, choosing happiness among the two is not at all a wrong choice but the point here is, that everything is circumstantial. You can’t always boast about happiness because eventually, luxury would buy happiness for you. Either it won’t be permanent but at least it would be momentarily. I would personally suggest you, think like Puneet and maintain a proper balance between happiness and money.
Thank you so much for giving me a read. All the views I have given above are personally mine and may differ from person to person. Maybe, there would be someone who would give a better explanation.
Kindly mention your opinions and views regarding the same in the comment section. I haven’t been able to choose out one among the two. Maybe your opinions would help to easily stand with one.
See you next time with another uneasy topic.
