Undoubtedly, it’s a ruthless world out there in the 21st century. Social media is peaking to new heights every other day, and technological inventions are turning our next-to-impossible imaginations into miraculous realities - both opening Pandora’s box of novel complications. Workplace and educational competition is getting cutthroat, and archaic, discriminatory and absurd reservations, besides plaguing the nation's development trajectory, are constantly making the (mostly more deserving) unreserved candidates get second-class treatment for their first-class talent and hardwork. Innumerable distractions are severely logjamming one’s quest for success and barricading one's personal growth, while a sedentary and hedonistic lifestyle is playing foul games with health and deteriorating overall wellness levels.
Contemporary and casual relationship trends are putting a heavy toll on the sanctity of love, and unreasonable breakups (read how to save your relationship) at the drop of a hat have become the new normal. Interpersonal bondings are going for a toss, chemistry between couples is being marred by the infusion of unintended toxins, and professional connections are lasting ephemeral, all thanks to people adopting a cantankerous and narcissistic attitude. Sitting on heaps of ego, running away from individual responsibilities, resorting to ghosting, abusing and gaslighting, and breaking promises (and hearts) for all the trivial reasons, people are defaulting even on basic human values, and time and again deviating from the longstanding noble beliefs and ideals. Forgiving others for their inadvertent errs, practising empathy, and expressing care even for the benevolent kith n kin have also become a thing of the past.

Besides the above challenging externalities, and the faltering state of mutual relationships, another down is the rapid decrement in the levels of modesty and humility in an individual. Combining all the above, this sorry state of the generations of this time is languishing the euphoria of a harmonious life. As a result, unwanted repercussions are gradually getting ingrained into modern society, and are being normalized. Despite miraculous advancements in cutting-edge technologies and mind-boggling developments bringing the people closer like never before, why the societies today are still choking to breathe amity? No matter how inextricably people get attached to tech inventions, everytime it comes to humanity's peace index and elation levels, interpersonal bonds come to the fore superseding all the worldly & material luxuries.
The debilitating state of people-to-people bond could also be justified with the following assumption. Gone are the days when people were rewarded for being compassionate towards others, liked for being soft-spoken, appreciated for presenting themselves in a sophisticated manner, and inspired for maintaining a genial aura. Exhibiting these traits in the current times is now confused with a sign of weakness. True that it may not be the case for ‘many’ out there, but it definitely is for ‘many + 1’ and will long be as long as people won't get sensitised about the real essence of life. No doubt in the fact that the good traits mentioned above are all a pre-requisite for being in the good books of others, however, it's quite appalling that these books are left with very few readers in the present-day.
Ultimately, it's your life and you'll have to take charge of it. When people start taking your cordiality for granted, and confuse it with frailty, the onus lies on you to take stock of the situation at the earliest, and prove them wrong. Well...here lies a catch. Even in refuting their faulty assumptions and busting their misinferences, you shouldn’t step out of your natural (pleasing) persona or lose your calming poise possessing magnanimity and politeness. Coz, there still exist enough people out there who don't want (softer) you to be pretentious as a nasty, rogue, and roaring individual for attaching value to your voice, opinion, and actions. Fall in love with these people, and make them a part of your team by taking them on your side, and you'll feel the real butterflies in your 'heart'. Always remember, losing a callous person or (respectfully) giving up on a moribund relationship will contribute immensely to how placidly you draw a close to your journey at the deathbed.
